JONATHAN KARNS

Jonathan is a local performer and choreographer in Charlottesville, VA. He has experience working with a majority of the theatres in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area during his 10+ years participating in the arts. He started performing in the theatre during his junior year of high school. His first experiences on stage, however, began with his involvement in his school's Destination Imagination team at 9 years old. He has worked as a choreographer for theatres like DMR Adventures and Live Arts, as well as teaching Hip Hop classes in his spare time. He also enjoys teaching DMR's introductory theatre classes - Broadway Baby and Broadway Kids. He has previous experience working with children ages 3-6 outside of the arts under a Montessori style education. Jonathan is currently enrolled at the University of Virginia and working towards a degree in psychology with concentrations in child psychology and play therapy. He is glad to be back with DMR and working in person with its fantastic students and instructors.
