The Big One Oh! Jr. Online Zoomsical (6 Day Camp)
July 27 - August 1
M-Sa / 12:30 - 4:00 PM
The Big One-Oh! online show! Rehearse this specially formatted 25 minute show adding music, dance and character work; camp will also include reading and analyzing the book, art projects, theater games and more. We will do our best to keep this is a fun, active and engaging camp with as much individualized attention as possible. The cast will be kept small to achieve that goal (likely between 12 - 16 each cast). Your child will also get one-on-one coaching sessions which is not always the case at our regular day camps.
TECH REQUIREMENTS: iTheatrics and MTI recommend each student have a computer of their own. If they are using a tablet they will not be able to see everyone on the screen at the same time which will be tough for group numbers, etc. Kids should also have access to a phone or camera for recording their own videos of themselves and the ability to send them via Google drive or some other format to the staff (the group numbers need to be edited together so we can hear everyone’s voices at the same time) and for playing their music tracks. It will be important for siblings to be able to participate without sharing a screen.
ABOUT THE SHOW: “Charley Maplewood has never been one for parties – that would require friends, which he doesn’t have. Well, unless you count his monster friends, but they’re only imaginary. But now that he’s turning ten—the big one-oh—he decides to throw a birthday party for himself, complete with a “House of Horrors” theme. Of course, things don’t work out as he plans. Will Charley be able to pull it together before the big one-oh . . . becomes the big OH-NO!?
Based on the beloved book, The Big One-Oh! features lyrics by Academy Award-winner Dean Pitchford (author of the novel, Footloose), music by the acclaimed Tony-nominated Doug Besterman (Elf, Young Frankenstein), and a book by iTheatric's award-winning playwright Timothy Allen McDonald (Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, James and the Giant Peach).” - MTI
