The SpongeBob Musical - Two Week Summer Musical Theatre Intensive

The summer, we travel to Bikini Bottom with THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL: YOUTH EDITION. This one-hour edition of the hit Broadway musical, brilliantly adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon series, is specially tailored for young actors.

The stakes are higher than ever in this dynamic stage musical, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage. The power of optimism really can save the world! The Broadway musical was a nominee for twelve 2018 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and winner of the 2018 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical. The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau.


The times of the intensive are
Week 1 (M-F, June 12-16) 9AM-5PM
June 19-22, 9AM-5PM
June 23, 9AM-8:30 PM (performance at 7PM)
June 24, performances at 3 and 7PM


The cost includes a DMR T-shirt (if registered by June 1).

A casting/audition session will be required for this intensive but anyone can register for this intensive. Check your camp BAND for more information on casting materials and dates.
We intend for all in-person and virtual casting sessions to take place Friday, June 2, Saturday, June 3, or Sunday, June 4

The cost of the intensive is on a sliding scale, like almost all of our classes and camps.
