ELIZABETH WEIKLE

Broadway Kids Choir Director

Elizabeth Weikle currently works as a music teacher at Brownsville Elementary School, music teacher at University Montessori School, one of the choral directors of DMR Adventures' Broadway Kids Choir and administrative assistant for the Virginia Choral Academy of the Virginia Consort. As a vocal music educator from James Madison University, her passion is for building community through singing, with a specific focus on diversity and world music repertoire. During her degree at JMU, she served as Vice President of the JMU Chapter of the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) and as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Beginning Choral Conducting. Elizabeth also served as a member of The Madison Singers and an undergraduate/manager conductor in The University Women's Chorus.  An avid mezzo-soprano, Elizabeth performed in ensembles and as a soloist in many productions and events such as opening for "Shakespeare in the Ruins" at Barboursville Vineyard, recitals at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and various weddings. During the summer of 2017, she also participated in the School of Music sponsored study abroad program (the German Opera Experience) in Freiberg, Germany, where she was cast in the role of Milchfrau in "Brundibar." 
 Her outside of music interests include carpentry, poetry, international travel, and hiking in National Parks.
