LOCAL AUDITIONS

VIRGINIA THEATRE FESTIVAL

In-person auditions for young actors between the ages of 8-17 for roles in Virginia Theatre Festival's production of NEWSIES will take place at the Belmont Arts Collaborative/DMR Adventures at 221 Carlton Rd, Suite 4, Charlottesville, VA on Monday, February 23 from 4:15pm-9:00pm.

Auditions will occur in four groups:

Group A: 4:15–5:45
Group B: 5:00–6:30
Group C: 6:45–8:15
Group D: 7:30–9:00

Each group will learn a song and dance, and no advance preparation is required.

Please register for your audition in advance, wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring or wear jazz shoes or sneakers/tennis shoes. Please, no open-toed shoes.

If you have a headshot/resume, please bring that with you to the auditions. VTF Artistic Director, Jenny Wales and Director/Choreographer, Matthew Steffens, of Newsies will be present at auditions.

Please note, portions of this audition may be filmed for internal reference by the creative team and social media.

Each Brooklyn Boy will receive a $250 honorarium.

Week of June 22

Mon-Thu, June 22, 23, 24, 25: 9a-1p

Fri, June 26: 12:30p-4:30p

Sat-Sun, June 27-28: Hours TBD

Week of June 29

Tue, June 30-Sun, July 5: Each day will have a possible 3-4 hour call – tech schedule to be determined

Week of July 6 - exact show call times TBD

Tue-Wed, July 7-8: Possible afternoon call AND Preview Performance (7p-11p)

Thu, July 9: Show #1 - Possible afternoon call AND Opening Night (7p-11p)
